What is the relationship between the life of the LCD screen and the backlight?

Many friends who buy LCD screens often ask such a question: How long does the LCD screen last? Does it have any effect on the service life under different usage environments? Today, let's take a look at the usage time of the LCD screen.

In order to ensure the quality and life of the products, and to provide users with reliable products, LCD manufacturers must conduct accelerated aging tests called reliability tests on the products.

For example, an accelerated test assuming no failure for 5 years is required for a product to be renewed in a 5-year cycle. If the accelerated aging test is qualified, it proves that the design of the product is reasonable and the product can leave the factory. As an example of an accelerated test, a test such as high temperature, high humidity, and low temperature is performed.

Put the liquid crystal module into an environment (incubator) with a temperature of +60 or +80°C and a relative humidity of 70% or 80%, and apply a voltage to make it run for 500 hours or 1000 hours to investigate the failure rate of the liquid crystal module. The life of the liquid crystal module is determined according to the above test.

The test results found that the life of the backlight is not as long as that of the liquid crystal module. In other words, the life of the LCD screen is determined by the life of the backlight. From the accelerated test of the cold cathode tube lamp only, the time it takes for the brightness to decrease to half of the original is 50,000 hours (corresponding to a service life of about 5 years) and this is defined as the life time. At present, the lifespan of general industrial screens is about 50,000-60,000 hours, and the lifespan of LCD TVs is about 100,000 hours.

In addition, for other reasons, the service life of the liquid crystal display is often related to the user's usage. For example, 24 hours of continuous use every day and only 1 hour of use in a week, the life of the display screen is not the same.

It can be said that the life of the display screen is determined by the frequency of use by the user.
